Beyond Words:

Speech, Language, & Literacy Solutions

Specializing In

Orton-Gillingham Tutoring

Caitlin is trained in the Orton-Gillingham (“OG”) Approach. OG is a direct, explicit, multi-sensory, structured, sequential, diagnostic, and prescriptive way to teach literacy when reading, writing, and spelling does not come easily, such as for those with dyslexia.

Early Intervention

Early Intervention (EI) helps to develop receptive and expressive language for infants through age 3.

Articulation and Phonological Disorders

This type of speech therapy treats speech-sound and phonological disorders.

Language Based Learning Disorders

Speech and language therapy can help a child develop their receptive and expressive language skills. Goals targeted include (but are not limited to) improving verbal and reading comprehension, expanding verbal utterances, improving grammar and syntax, etc.

Pragmatic (Social) Language

For some children, math can be a challenging area, requiring extra support to build confidence and skill. Others may need focused instruction to develop their social communication abilities. These skills include initiating and maintaining conversations, sharing, taking turns, problem-solving, and more—fundamental tools for fostering healthy social interactions and relationships.

Speech therapy for individuals who stutter often includes a combination of fluency-enhancing techniques, strategies for self-advocacy, and support in identifying and managing the emotions that can accompany stuttering. Therapy is personalized and may also address confidence-building, communication in various settings, and other individualized goals.

Phonological Awareness

Phonological awareness is a critical foundation for learning to read. It refers to the ability to recognize and work with the sounds of spoken language. A key component of this is phonemic awareness—the skill of identifying and manipulating individual sounds (phonemes) in words. For example, understanding that the word "cat" is made up of the sounds c-a-t. Developing these skills is essential for early or emergent readers, as they directly support decoding, spelling, and overall reading success.
